Global epidemiology firm, Oxford Epidemiology Services, is partnering with companies on three continents to provide contact and symptom tracing services for COVID-19 and more.

McLean, VA – September 1, 2020 – Oxford Epidemiology (Oxford Epi), based in McLean, Virginia, is partnering with companies on three continents to provide contact tracing, symptom tracking, and epidemiology consultancy services for local governments and large organizations. Perry Family Medicine Practice (Perry, Georgia, USA), IPDP (Pakistan), the Government of Afghanistan, the Mental Health and COVID-19 Foundation of Afghanistan, and Supported Housing, Ltd (UK) are joining forces with Oxford Epi to implement the COVID-19 Eliminator, an ai-driven web-based solution that allows anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 to link their family and friends to health care right when they need it.

More information is available at https://covid19eliminator.com/, and you can get an overview of how it works here

“COVID-19 is the first fast-spreading epidemic of the modern era,” said Dr. Rachel J. Salomonsen, the CEO of the new partnership. “By combining our global knowledge of epidemiology with state-of-the-art mobile technology, we’re able to provide local, state, and regional governments with the tools they need to keep this and other epidemics under control.”

COVID-19 Eliminator aims to eliminate deaths due to COVID-19 by finding cases and treating their symptoms early. It provides two major services:

  • Contact Tracing – Using technologies perfected by brands like Uber, Amazon, and others, the firm has created an app that users can enter their contacts’ information to allow rapid tracing and mitigation.

  • Symptoms Tracker – For anyone who might have been exposed to COVID-19, they can track their symptoms day to day. The COVID-19 Eliminator will let their doctor know when they start to have dangerous symptoms based on what they report every day.

The Oxford Epi Team also provides Co-creation Services – They will partner with public and private entities to create and modify applications to meet the local needs. Using expertise and technology, they can deliver the highest levels of control and compliance.

“This pandemic has created major setbacks to economies of many of the world’s largest countries,” Salomonsen said. “Hundreds of thousands have died unnecessarily, and although this pandemic has not had the impact of some of the worst pandemics of the past like the Spanish Flu and the Black Plague, it is still a reminder of the need to be better prepared. By understanding the tools that work, we can be better equipped to handle future epidemic that may have much higher mortality rates.”

Oxford Epi’s work has always been personal and driven by an imperative that people should not be reduced to a statistic, and you can learn more about their work at www.oxfordepi.com. As a global epidemiology firm, they bring the expertise to view the COVID-19 pandemic from the perspective of an interconnected world. They are building from lessons learned from their work mitigating epidemics such as HIV, TB, malaria, and waterborne diseases from 50+ countries. They know what works and have fused this knowledge in the COVID 19 Eliminator. The result is a contact tracing tool designed to trace and link to care until no one dies.
