A youth soccer tournament came to a successful end in Hangzhou, East China’s Zhejiang province on Nov 13.

The tournament was organized by the Hangzhou Football Association, with 24 teams from 16 youth training camps or institutions competing in it.

About 300 young players under the age of eight were divided into two groups – U7 and U8. They practiced their skills and tactics in 48 games, which were streamed on the internet.

In September, Hangzhou set up a task force led by Liu Xin, mayor of Hangzhou, to develop its soccer industry. Its members include directors of the sports, education, and talent bureaus at the municipal and district levels.

Local authorities said that the task force was set up before the one-year countdown to the Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 event because they considered the Asian Games a great opportunity to expand the city’s soccer fan base.

The organizing committee of the Games said that starting from 2020, they are attracting middle and elementary schools to participate in their football camps, helping more youth realize their soccer dreams.
